Merit Certificate in Science Talent Search 2015

The boy got a merit certificate this year. This is also the end of his fantastics 7-year STS journey. The next chapter is waiting for him to explore, so it's right time to move on.

It's my privilege to be able to work with him all the way. The little boy curious about how computer programs work has become a pretty mature problem solver. I'll never forget the very first time he went out from the judging room, told me he was asked a question 'what's a variable?'.

It's the 6th year the boy participated the competition and he got his 4th major bursary.

I started programming at his age now and won 4 awards before I went to university studying computer science. That's a connection spanning nearly 30 years between a father and a son.

It's a great project, got excellent comments from 2 judges, but failed to get another Bursary. If you check out all the Prime Factorization projects on Scratch, you'll find out it's the best so far.

Well, not me, it's my son.

Yesterday, he got a mail from Science Victoria, saying he has been awarded a Major Bursary for his entry of a computer program.

My son began "programming" when he was 6.5 years old while I did the same when I was 13. Does this mean that he is twice as smart as me? I think so. Anyway, hope he enjoys it.
